How Far in Advance Should I Book a Removal Company When Moving Home?
Ideally, you should book a removal company 4 to 6 weeks before your moving date. The earlier, the better — many aspects of your removal are affected if you book too late.

Choose your moving date carefully
School summer holidays and bank holidays are extremely busy for removal companies, so avoid them if possible. Moving on a weekday is always cheaper than a weekend, with Wednesday often one of the cheapest days to move.
Ensure you can get your preferred time
The further in advance you book, the more likely you are to get your preferred moving date and time. Leave it until the last minute and you risk not securing your preferred slot with your removal company of choice.
Do not wait for a moving date confirmation
If you are still finalising your moving date, contact your chosen removal company and provide an estimated day, explaining it may change. Many companies will accommodate a provisional booking.
Allow time for a valuation
Getting quotes 4 to 6 weeks before your move allows time for a full survey and an accurate quote. You will also be asked about access, parking and specific removal requirements, and can ask about additional insurance, packing services and timeframes.
Do not leave packing until the last minute
Removal companies work to strict timeframes. Have your packing 100% complete before they arrive (unless you have booked a packing service), and disassemble furniture and prepare white goods so they are ready to go.
